In 1998, Professor Keane returned from Oxford to become the youngest Master of the National Maternity Hospital. He set up the urogynaecological department in the NMH and following his term of 7 years as Master, was appointed to the staff of St. Vincent's Healthcare Group.
Professor Keane has subspecialist training in urogynaecology and his interests include all aspects of pelvic floor dysfunction, especially urinary incontinence and prolapse.
In the St. Vincent's Healthcare Group, he works closely with the colorectal and urology departments in women with more complex pelvic floor disorders.
Graduated from UCD in 1985. Received undergraduate training in Dublin and UK. Awarded a doctorate for research work done on connective tissue disorders and stress incontinence. Appointed as a consultant to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in 1995 before returning home in 1998.
