John Crown is a Professor and consultant medical oncologist at St. Vincent’s Private Hosptial. He received his medical training at University College Dublin and the State University of New York, and undertook his postdoctoral training on both sides of the Atlantic.
He completed his fellowship training in oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Centre and in haematology/oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre before joining St. Vincent’s University Hospital in 1993.
He also founded the Clinical Trials Unit at St. Vincent’s University Hospital which has developed an international leadership role in oncology trials.
In 1996, he helped found the Irish Clinical Oncology Research Group (ICORG), a not-for-profit registered charity. Today ICORG includes 95% of cancer-treating professionals in Ireland and has allowed access to research treatments for more than 7,500 Irish cancer patients.
