Phlebotomy is located on the 1st floor of St. Vincent’s Private Hospital.
Patients referred by consultant’s private clinics and GPs can access the phlebotomy service from 08:00 – 16.00, Monday to Friday.
Attending for blood tests before surgery
If you are scheduled for surgery, you may be contacted by the hospital and asked to attend for blood tests in the week before your admission. This helps ensure that required blood samples are processed in advance of surgery.
Please attend at the specific time advised by the hospital team and bring any paperwork or request forms you may have been given. Pre-operative blood samples may need to be taken earlier in the day to allow enough time for transport to the laboratory and processing.
Requirements
- You must bring a completed test request form from your private consultant or GP.
- Some tests require that you are fasting. Your private consultant or GP will inform you if you are required to fast before your blood test, or of any other necessary criteria for your test.
- If you are fasting, please come to phlebotomy as early as possible.
- If you are nervous about the blood draw please inform the phlebotomist who will guide and support you through the process.
