A loop recorder is a small device that is implanted under your skin. It will monitor your heart rhythm and record fast, slow and irregular heart rhythms. The information from the loop recorder can be monitored remotely. This means that the Cardiac Physiologist can get the information on their computer whilst you are still at home.
The team involved in this service
Highly skilled Cardiac Physiologists will monitor the information on your device. Your Consultant Cardiologist will review any changes or abnormalities.
The service
Before your check up
No preparation is needed. Please write down the date and time of any relevant symptoms.
The procedure
If you have a recent loop recorder it will automatically send the information to the Cardiology department. If you have an older model you may need to send the information or come into the clinic.
After your check up
If there is a change in your heart rate or rhythm your report will be sent to your Consultant Cardiologist. You may be contacted if you need a clinical review.
