Bio/About

Dr Edel McDermott completed specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology in Ireland before pursuing a fellowship in advanced endoscopy in Australia. She was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Cambridge, UK after completion of a second fellowship in advanced endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) there. Dr McDermott is a specialist in endoscopy, was appointed as the clinical lead for bowel cancer screening in Cambridge and is an expert in endoscopic resections. Her main areas of interest are general gastroenterology, having led on digital innovation in gastroenterology in Cambridge, and IBD, which was the focus of Dr McDermott’s PhD.
