Ms Hand is the first female to be appointed as a consultant Hepatobiliary (HPB), Liver and Pancreas Transplant surgeon in Ireland. Whilst undergoing higher surgical training, she was awarded an MD for her thesis in liver immunology, from Trinity College Dublin. Completing general surgical training in Ireland in 2019, Ms Hand pursued fellowship training in HPB & Liver transplant surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
This was followed by further fellowships in robotic HPB surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea and Northshore Hospital, Chicago, before completing a final fellowship in pancreas transplantation at Oxford University Hospitals Trust. She was appointed to St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group in 2022 as a consultant Hepatobiliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgeon and is actively involved in the treatment of patients with all forms of general surgical disorders including hernias, gallstone disease, benign and malignant conditions of the liver and pancreas. Ms Hand is the clinical lead for the National Pancreas Transplant Service.
