First SRS and SABR cases treated at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital
St. Vincent’s Private Hospital are proud to announce the launch of several new clinical programs within our Radiotherapy service. The first treatments of Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) have been recently delivered using Elekta VersaHD Linear Accelerators and Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) from Vision RT. SRS and SABR treatment delivery demand high levels of accuracy while remaining confident that patient safety is always maintained. SGRT from Vision RT provides superior initial patient setup and then monitors the patient throughout the treatment procedure with sub-mm accuracy – stopping the radiation beam if the patient moves outside of clinical tolerances. As part of the increased adoption of SGRT our radiotherapy team have also enhanced the treatment delivery program for Pancreas cases. SVPH now offers Breath Hold techniques for this patient cohort which reduces breathing and patient motion, allowing improvements in the accuracy of treatment delivery.
As standard St. Vincent’s Private Hospital continue to offer all radiotherapy patients tattooless treatment, one of only 2 departments in Ireland to do so.
Congratulations to the entire radiotherapy team on all the hard work introducing these new key clinical services.
