Your safety comes first
In the face of extraordinary challenge, healthcare has been transformed, but our dedication to safe, high-quality care has remained the same. When you visit us, you will notice we continue with key measures in place to support this.
From extra infection prevention measures, restrictions to our usual visiting protocols and the layout of our hospital with social distancing in mind, everything we do has been reviewed to make sure we are providing the safest places for your care. These measures are guided by both national and international best practice.
As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, so too will the measures we have in place, so that we can continue to do what we have always set out to do: highest level patient care in the safest possible environment.
Our first priority is to ensure the ongoing safety of our patients, visitors and staff. We continue to keep you and others safe by asking all patients, visitors and staff to wear a mask when in our hospital.
If you do not have a mask on arrival, we will provide you with one on entry. All patients will be asked to wear these at all times when moving around the hospital, as well as when anyone enters the room.
All day case patients and patients scheduled for admission will be required to answer a questionnaire to assess the risk of COVID-19. This screening will take place over the telephone, prior to your procedure and again on arrival in the hospital. If a risk of COVID-19 is identified through screening, your procedure will be rescheduled.
Please be advised that if you have any of the below, you will not be able to enter our hospital:
- Visitors experiencing any symptoms of COVID19, even with a negative antigen test.
- Visitors who have had known contact with a positive COVID case in the past 7 days.
If you’re unable to attend your appointment because you have COVID-19 symptoms or a positive COVID-19 result, please contact your care team to rearrange your appointment.
We also ask you not to arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment time, so we can reduce the number of people on site at any one time.
Inpatient visitors
Visiting is restricted to Monday to Friday from 18.00 - 20.00 and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 14.00 - 16.00. Exceptions outside of these hours may only be made for critically-ill patients and those with specific care needs – these designated patients will be allowed one visitor only and this will be agreed with the ward manager on a case by case basis.
The recommended visiting time is 30 minutes and no more than one person should visit a patient at any one time. Children under 12 years, other than the patient’s own children, should not be brought to visit. Children must also be under supervision of an adult at all times while in the hospital.
We ask you to visit our visting times and guidelines page for more information.
Outpatient visitors
For outpatients, we ask that you attend your appointment alone, wherever possible, to help reduce the risk of transmission.
Any outpatient visitors will also be required to answer some screening questions on arrival and wear a face mask at all times.
