Digital retinal photography
Digital retinal photography is a sophisticated process that allows our ophthalmologists to take a detailed picture of the back of the eye to diagnose diseases including:
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic eye disease
- Cataracts
- Age related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Other eye conditions including those related to many general health conditions.
It can also highlight a range of other conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, risk of a stroke and symptoms associated with brain tumours.
Retinal screening is extremely comfortable, only takes a few seconds, and simply involves us taking a photograph. At no stage does anything touch your eye.
