External Beam
Radiation beams produced in large x-ray units called linear accelerators is commonly referred to as external beam therapy.
This is the most common type of treatment encountered in modern radiotherapy department. Special software computers are used to adjust the size, shape and intensity of the radiation beam to direct it on to the tumour target while avoiding the healthy tissue and organs that surround the cancer cells.
External beam radiation therapy does not make you radioactive.
