Surgery and Dietetics
Gastrointestinal surgery, or surgery of the feeding tract, may require dietary modifications.
These problems may be as a result of reduced digestion and absorption of nutrients. Oesophagectomy, gastrectomy (partial or total removal of the stomach), bowel resection resulting in an ileostomy or colostomy, liver or pancreas resection, are just some of the surgical procedures which may require dietary intervention.
Please contact your doctor to arrange a referral to the dietitian, should you feel you require advice on these problems.
