Results and next steps
Should any follow up or treatment be required, your consultant will discuss this with you when giving you your diagnostic results. If medical treatment (medications etc.), or a minimally invasive procedure (such as stents or angiogram) is required, your consultant will discuss these with you and have scheduling arrange a suitable date for your procedure in our Cathorisation Lab (Cath Lab).
If a more invasive surgical intervention is clinically indicated, your consultant will discuss options with you and suggest a suitable Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon who can carry out these procedures.
Cath Lab Service
The Cath lab and Cardiac Day Unit are situated on the second floor of St. Vincent's Private Hospital.
A Cath lab is a specially designed procedural area where invasive and non-invasive procedures regarding the heart and circulatory system take place.
Our experienced multidisciplinary team including consultant cardiologists, Nurses, Cardiac Physiologists, Clinical Specialist Radiographer, healthcare assistant and admin support ensure that our patients receive the most comprehensive and up to date range of diagnostic and treatment options tailored to their specific needs.
The consultant cardiologist’s secretary will send you details regarding your appointment.
On arrival to the hospital, you will first present to the admissions department situated at the entrance of the hospital and you will then be directed to the Cardiac Day Unit.
On admission to the cardiac day unit, you will be greeted by your nurse who will ask you some questions regarding your symptoms and medical history. She will check your vital signs (temperature, blood pressure & pulse), weight and height. An Electrocardiogram will also be performed in the cardiology department. It is important that you bring a list of your medications on the day. Procedural education will be provided by your nurse throughout your stay.
The doctor will sign a consent form with you before you have your procedure.
