About our service

Our ENT surgeons are qualified in the surgical and medical management of conditions of the ears, nose, throat, head and neck. This includes infective, inflammatory, and anatomical conditions of the upper airways, and cancer of the head and neck.

St. Vincent’s Private Hospital has state of the art surgical facilities, with the latest in diagnostic radiology providing the perfect setting for treatment of all ENT pathology.

Conditions treated

We treat an extensive range of ENT related conditions including: 

• diseases of the ears, e.g. otitis externa and media, middle ear effusions, cholesteatoma and vertigodiseases of the nose and sinuses, e.g. sinusitis and nasal obstruction
• diseases of the nose and sinuses, e.g. sinusitis and nasal obstruction
• diseases of the larynx, e.g. voice disorders and breathing difficulties
• diseases of the head and neck, including a diverse range of head and neck cancer, neck lumps and skin cancers e.g. squamous cell cancer and melanoma.

Our team

Our six permanent ENT consultants work in the areas of Otology and Vertigo (conditions related to the outer, middle ear, and inner ear), Rhinology (nasal conditions), Laryngology (conditions related to the larynx, or voice box), Head and Neck Cancer, and General ENT conditions. 

All our consultants have public appointments at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, in conjunction with the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital Dun Laoghaire, St. Colmcille’s Hospital Loughlinstown, and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, under the academic umbrella of University College Dublin (UCD). 

Our unit pioneered fully endoscopic ear surgery, and is the first and only private hospital carrying out Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery for cancer of the oropharynx / head and neck in Ireland. 

Our specialists receive tertiary referrals in Neuro-Otology / Vestibular disorders, complex Sinus pathology, Laryngeal re-innervation surgery, endoscopy and management of salivary gland disorders, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and complex Head and Neck Cancer surgery from across the country. 

We are supported by Neuro-Radiology X-ray specialists, and partake in Multi-Disciplinary Team approaches with Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology and Speech and Language Therapy for management of Head and Neck cancers.
