About our kidney treatment services
Nephrectomy or Partial Nephrectomy - this is usually performed by minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic or robotic assisted) but your doctor might decide that an open approach is required. Sometimes the attached ureter may also need to be removed (Nephroureterectomy).
Treatment of Kidney or Ureteral Stones – kidney stones less than 5mm can often pass without surgical intervention however if the stone is greater than 5mm you may require intervention. This may be done by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy with laser fragmentation or percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Often a temporary stent will be inserted to aid healing and allow stone fragments to pass.
