At St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, many of our procedures can be performed in our surgical day unit, meaning you can be treated and released within the same day. But for some of our treatments, primarily those that require surgery, you may be advised that you will need to recover in our hospital.
We aim to make your hospital stay as pleasant as possible during your treatment and we recommend that you read our list of recommendations for items you may wish to have when packing for a hospital stay with us.
St. Vincent’s Private Hospital has strong relationships with all the main Irish health insurers. With a wide number of plans available on the market, the level of cover afforded by them varies hugely. It is important that you speak to your insurer directly in advance of your arrival to the hospital so that you are fully informed on what your plan will cover you.
Claims processes can also differ from insurer to insurer and yours will guide you through their specific process. Learn more about Billing and Insurance

Patients do not need to call ahead to book a wheelchair in advance of their visit. Our reception team will be happy to help you on your arrival. If required, a porter will be provided as soon as possible to support you.
The Day of Surgery Admission Lounge (DOSAL) is designed to provide a streamlined comfortable admission experience for patients.
When you arrive at the hospital, take the lift from the car park to the ground floor and make your way to the main reception where our experienced team will guide you to the central admissions office to check in.
When you arrive at admissions, you will be registered by a member of staff and asked to complete any necessary insurance documentation.
If you are being admitted via the DOSAL, you will then be directed to this area where a nurse will carry out your nursing admission assessment. Once completed, you will be asked to wait in our comfortable patient lounge. Any tests such as blood tests, ECG and radiology that have been ordered by your consultant will be carried out before your surgery. You will be taken directly to the operating theatre from the DOSAL and then transferred to your ward after your surgery. All belongings will be transferred to the ward once you have gone to theatre.
