A micturating cystogram is an examination of the urinary bladder and urethra.
- You will be asked to undress and given a gown to put on with opening to the front.

The radiology nurse will insert a catheter before the procedure.

For female patients: If you are still of childbearing age please book your appointment within the first 10 day of your menstrual cycle
- You will be asked to lay on your back for the procedure.

The Radiologist will inject contrast filling up the bladder until you can’t tolerate it anymore.

The catheter bag will then be removed.

The table will be tilted in an upright position.

You will be given a urine collection container.

You will be asked to micturate into the container while the radiologist uses fluoroscopy to capture the images.
- You are able to resume a normal day after the examination.
- The x-ray images will be reported by the radiologist and the results will be forwarded to your doctor within 5 working days.
