Dr. Deirdre O’Donovan graduated 2nd place in her class with an honnours degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1996 and was awarded the MRCP(UK) in 1999. She subsequently obtained her CCST in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine in 2007. She was awarded a PhD in Medicine from UCC in 2005 with a thesis focussing on the effects of diabetes on gastric emptying and appetite regulation. She is author of 27 peer reviewed papers and 4 book chapters. Her clinical interests are gastrointestinal functional disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer screening.
