Bio/About

Following completion of medical school in Marmara University, Istanbul, one of the oldest educational institutions in Turkey, he moved to Italy in 2009 where he completed his ENT surgical training in the distinguished Padua University. During his training, he also visited the world renowned Massachusetts's Eye And Ear Hospital in Harvard Medical School, Boston.

His career as an ENT consultant continued for 7 years in Tirana/Albania where he faced continuous challenges in building a functional ENT Department where, for the first time in Albania, surgeries like cochlear implantation, free flap reconstruction after head and neck cancer and anterior skull base reconstruction were performed. In 2017, Mr. Shytaj moved to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he is still doing on call duties as a consultant. In 2018, he was appointed as a locum Consultant ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon in St. Vincent’s University Hospital where he continues to work.

Mr. Shytaj has an interest in General Ear, Nose and Throat conditions, functional and aesthetic nose surgery, sinus surgery, allergic rhinitis, snoring and sleep apnea surgery and is available on Friday's for outpatient appointments.

Mr. Shytaj’s sub specialty interest is in Rhinology which includes investigation and treatment of allergic rhinitis, nasal polyposis and functional and aesthetic problems of the nose. He also was part the first Robotic Cases in Head and Neck Surgery in Ireland in 2018 in St. Vincent’s University Hospital and is one of the few surgeons in Ireland trained and practicing Transoral Robotic Surgery.
