About our service

Urological conditions affect both men and women, can be benign or malignant and may be treated either medically or surgically.

There are six consultant urologists based in St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, and all accept general urological referrals, however each consultant has sub-speciality interests. Our team of consultants work closely with our radiology colleagues and offer a full urological interventional radiology service, including percutaneous nephrostomy, stent insertions and percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

We also work closely with out radiotherapy and medical oncology colleagues, together with pathologists and radiologists to provide a multi-disciplinary delivery of cancer care.

Our patients have rapid access to consultations, screening, diagnosis and treatment for a full range of urological conditions including cancers of the prostate, kidney, bladder, penis and testes.

For more information about our Urology Department please see our dedicated urology website which provides patients with evidence based information on their condition. Patients can use this website as a resource to access general urology information and learn about the services our urologists offer for all benign and malignant urological conditions. Here patients can learn more about the open, laparoscopic (key-hole), percutaneous (via skin), and robotic assisted surgery which our consultant urologists specialise in.

Urodynamics

The Urodynamics Department at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital provides an in house referral facility for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder dysfunctions and it is managed by our Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNM2), and staffed by specially trained nursing staff. This unit provides a comprehensive service that is unmatched in any other private hospitals in Dublin.

Urodynamics tests may be recommended if you have urinary incontinence (leakage of urine), recurrent bladder infections, and a slow or weak urinary stream, incomplete bladder emptying or frequent urination. They provide valuable information in the accurate diagnosis of your urinary problems.
